My goal for Faded Rose Pomeranians is to have a full line of exotic colors that are show quality including the beautiful MERLE Pomeranian.
A Note on Merles:
My family raised Australian Shepherds for a long time. I learned a lot from that about the merle gene. I know about the blind and deaf puppies and I know how it can be prevented. With the knowledge I learned from the Aussies, I hope to be able to improve the merle gene in the Pomeranians safely. If you are looking for a merle puppy I will be asking questions about your intentions for the puppy. No merles will be sold to breeders unless I speak with the breeder and have assurances that the breeder knows how to deal with the merle gene or is willing to let me help when breeding time comes around. If you have questions about the merle Pom or the merle gene itself email or call and I will answer your questions as best I can. I also hope to help reassure the Pomeranian world that this gene is not going to be a disaster. We can all learn about this color gene just as we can learn about any other factor involved in raising and breeding dogs. It takes time and patience to get the right thing. The merle gene does need a lot of work and has much room to improve. I hope I can make a difference here in some way. I would love nothing more than for someone to see a merle dog I produced and know right away that particular quality came from my lines.
If you have any information about the merle gene that you think would add to what I have here, please email it to me and I will post it with the proper permissions. There aren't that many of us that appreciate the merle gene. I hope to work with more breeders who specialize in the merle gene and especially the improvement of the dogs of this color pattern. I have always loved the merle pattern because of the total uniqueness of every merle dog and of course, those rare piercing bright blue eyes!! There is just nothing like it!!
